RUHENGERI DIOCESE DEDICATED TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA
The Virgin Mary is the Mother of God and the Mother of all faithful. The Gospel of Saint John shows us that aspect to be the Mother of Church. “Woman, behold your son behold your Mother” (Jn 19:26-27).
At Fatima, the Virgin Mary appeared as a Mother. The Children saw her as a very humble and extremely beautiful woman. Being the Mother, She is the Protector of her Children. In that way, Ruhengeri Parish, from its foundation in 1954, has been dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima.
When the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima (Ruhengeri) was inaugurated in 2001, the whole Diocese was consecrated to the same Mother. And on 13th May 2015, during his pilgrimage at Fatima, the Bishop of Ruhengeri Diocese renewed the act of dedication of the Diocese to Our Lady of Fatima.
